Alternative Energy is a Bust, and That Was as Predictable as Night Follows Day. Get Over It!

By Rich Kozlovich

This article appeared in Human Events in 2012, but the link no longer works, as Human Events has gone through some changes.  Supposedly it's still publishing on line, but I don't see much from them, so you will have to take my word for what was said... or not ..... as it pleases you.

The article went on to say:
It was one of Barack Obama’s favorite green-energy companies. And green-energy companies, according to the president, are one of the best ways to facilitate economic growth.  Well, yesterday, The Denver Post detailed the criminal investigation of Abound Solar, a defunct solar-panel manufacturer in Colorado that was run on taxpayer “investments,” for securities fraud, consumer fraud and financial misrepresentation.
Abound shuttered its Colorado plant during the summer and filed for bankruptcy, leaving “125 workers without jobs and taxpayers holding the bag for up to $60 million in defaulted loans.”
I don’t care how much money is wasted on this horsepucky, alternative energy is a bust, it always has been a bust, and expensive bust.
We're not running out of "fossil fuels", CO2 isn't warming the globe, and the computer projections about global warming are all "game boy" science, garbage in, garbage out.   The fact is, while these nitwits are often wrong, they're never in doubt, and humanity is left paying the penalty for their folly.
The reality is the technology for so-called alternative energy has not progressed all that much beyond what Jimmy Carter tried in the seventies.  That was a failure then and so is it still a failure now.  Even if we could get these farces to work and produce vast amounts of energy we couldn’t do it without destroying the environment.
Did anyone ever see how much land it takes to produce large amounts of solar energy?  Did anyone ever see how many wind mills it takes to produce large amounts of wind energy?  Did anyone ever see the impact ethanol production takes on the environment, and at every stage of production?

Even beyond the fact alternative energy systems are completely incapable of producing enough energy, and do it reliably, the biggest problem they have to overcome is how to store enough energy for when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow.  You can only pack so many electrons in a confined area.  No battery system in the world can meet those needs.  That means we will have to maintain traditional power plants in reserve.  Okay, what's that mean.  That means they are up and running, but not producing energy, or little energy.
I have gone over this before, but I will do it again.
Power plants cannot just be shut off like a light switch.  It takes a lot of heat to make enough steam to turn the turbines at a high enough rate to produce enough electricity to meet demand.  That means they are burning coal or gas constantly to keep the ovens hot.   That is expensive.  So what we are doing is paying for energy we aren’t using, in order to use energy we don’t need.
The world went insane over this, but that's changing because as Europe is discovering alternatives are a bust, and an expensive bust.
We've reached the Inevitability Factor!  That's when reality reaches its zenith!  What I find interesting is all of this was a predictable as night follows day, but when corrupt thinking permeates governments and the media, "truth takes the hindmost".  Ideology makes smart people stupid.

Often Wrong, Never in Doubt

By Rich Kozlovich

“Renewable,” “sustainable” energy was supposed to be the salvation of mankind. It promised cheap, unlimited energy more than sufficient to meet all mankind’s present and future needs, and to successfully address the existential threat of global cooling,,,oops. I mean global warming…darn!  I mean climate change, yeah, that’s the ticket.

Even before Donald Trump won reelection, however, it was becoming increasingly clear climate change was perhaps history’s most profitable scam—for the scammers—and renewable energy like wind and solar couldn’t meet our current needs, to say nothing of future needs, and was far less reliable and far more expensive than fossil fuels. It was also clear these miraculous sources of energy couldn’t exist without massive government subsidies, which, with electric vehicles, have all been part of the “Green New Deal” climate change scam.

When the left ranted and screamed traditional energy production was disastrous, assuring us the world was going to be incinerated in months unless we abandoned everything we were doing that allows for advanced civilizations to exist.  What everyone should have asked was: It's disastrous compared to what?  Compared to living in caves, filthy, hungry, and sick?

When they offered alternatives few asked how much will it cost?  But it was clear this was going to be massively expensive if for no other reason not one businessman in the country was willing to take all this on without massive government handouts.

But.... and this is really big but.....  when they were asked what hard evidence they had to support their views on, and the effectiveness of alternative energy schemes, the left went insane and attacked anyone challenging their "settled science".  And these lunatics attacked them viciously!   Many losing their grants and even positions in the scientific community.   How dare they question consensus science?  They dared because politics is consensus, science questions everything.

That alone should have been enough to make everyone aware it was a corrupt scam, and power grab.   In spite of all that there were many who predicted this failure, including me, even before this stuff was constructed, and did so because the lack of technological capability was already known.

Question: If an autodidact bug man, meaning me, knew this was going to be a hugely expensive failure, how could all these highly educated '“experts” not know it?

Answer: These green misfit activists and politicians ignore that which is known, and make up what’s not known.   Corruption and ideology make smart people stupid.

Modern leftists are just like the Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson "progressives", often wrong but never in doubt, a legacy that lives and thrives on the left.   Leftists are the least likely to recognize their ignorance and incompetence in all the things in which they meddle, and this has always been so.

If we want this fixed, it's time for someone to go to jail.  Time after time we've seen billions of dollars wasted on these which in my opinion represents criminal fraud.   Yet none of the people involved ever seem to end up in jail.

  1. When will someone finally realize all these environmental movements are blatantly promoting fraud.  The last I heard fraud is a crime?
  2. When will someone finally realize it's not only these green organizations who are promoting fraud, but also those who fund them, and the agencies that enable them?
  3. When will someone finally realize this is all part of a massive international criminal enterprise, and decide an equally massive RICO investigation is needed?
  4. When will someone finally realize someone needs to be sent to prison over all this?

Good questions....don't you think?

Greenies Lie, Period!

By Rich Kozlovich

As it turns out, the greenies make things up, ludicrous things that only the brain dead can accept, you see, according to them "climate change is making plants less nutritious − that could already be hurting animals that are grazers".  Really?  And they know that how?  Let's try and get this right:

Never believe anything the green pushers, including the media, tell you. Their previous predictions have been pure garbage or propaganda to push an agenda, and they clearly care more about money and power than our length and quality of life. It is pathetic and dangerous when almost all people pretending to be journalists just regurgitate what they are told on “climate change” and “global warming” instead of doing research and asking questions. They are great contributors to the dumbing down of society, especially the children.

For many years I've written about the green movement and I learned from very early on, they lie, so when I write, I start with that foundational premise, and after I do the research on any subject they're ranting about..... guess what I find. They lied!

As for their doom and gloom, Chicken Little, the sky is falling predictions, they're pathetic. Here is my Failed Predictions file, along with my commentaries, If Green Prediction Was a Corporation, They'd Have a Monopoly on Being Wrong! And I particularly like this one, A Prince Who Was Potty, is Now a King Who is Potty, and Dangerously So!

Many years ago a customer who knew about my articles asked if I believed in global warning. I said, yes, and I believe in global cooling, but I don't believe mankind has anything to do with either one, and that's the issue. As for their climate models and predictions, that's garbage in and garbage out, as a result their timelines for disaster have come and gone, and the world is still here.

Environmentalism is part and parcel of a green globalist, one world government tyrannous socialist secular religion, with disaster mongering and lying as the central tenets of that religion.

A thousand years ago during the Medieval Warming Period the world was substantially warmer than it is today, and none of the disasters they're predicting for today occurred then, and there's no reason to believe they will occur now.

The world actually needs more CO2, not less. Climate change and CO2 have nothing to do with each other, except, climate change precedes CO2, not the reverse, and CO2 does not change the climate.   All that's absolutely known, and now we see Michigan is going to destroy 400 acres of woodland to build a solar farm with solar panels made in China.

Remember 35 years ago the greenies were outraged at the controlled timber harvesting in the Northwest claiming logging was killing the spotted own.  After destroying that industry it was disclosed logging that was killing them at all, it was the barred owl, and the greenies knew that right from he start.  They lied, and now where are these green misfits over Michigan destroying 400 acres of forest to make way for solar panels?  The greenies have very selective outrage because their not about the environment, they're about destroying western civilization, and sadly so many of them at the base are nothing more than useful clueless idiots.

And now look at what that darned global warming has caused. Record-breaking wind, ice, and snow to impact 250 million Americans. Yes, and worse, global warming is now going to cause major winter storms and blizzard conditions in at least a dozen states, and even Washington DC. The answer?  Cut down more trees.

Criminals have a code: "never give up on the con", and they haven't.

British Climate Activist Responds To Ponton's UK Wind Power "Reality Check"

April 06, 2023 @ Manhattan Contrarian

Having read Bill Ponton’s very clear “reality check” on the UK’s Net Zero project, you are probably wondering, what are the counter-arguments advanced by the supporters of Net Zero?

After all, the Net Zero thing appears to have near-unanimous support in the UK. There is no significant political party in that country that advocates policies dissenting from the Net Zero program, unless you count the UK Independence Party, which at the moment holds zero seats in a House of Commons of 650 members. The currently-governing Conservative Party is fully on board with the Net Zero program, with the partial exception of a small group of about 50 MPs (out of 355 Tories in the Commons) claiming to be “studying” the issue; and all the various parties to the left of the Conservatives advocate even more extreme, immediate and forceful measures to reduce carbon emissions than those that the Conservatives are pursuing.

So surely there must exist somewhere a lucid explanation of how this Net Zero thing makes sense and how it can work.

A few days ago on GBNews a Conservative MP named Jacob Rees-Mogg conducted an interview with a young lady named Phoebe Plummer. Mr. Rees-Mogg is a somewhat prominent Conservative MP known for having expressed mildly skeptical views about the climate. Rees-Mogg is not a current member of the Cabinet, and thus is technically what is known as a “back bencher,” although he has held cabinet positions in the past. Ms. Plummer is the spokeswoman for the climate activist group known as Just Stop Oil, and is perhaps best known for being one of the protesters who damaged the Van Gogh painting “Sunflowers” in the UK’s National Gallery back in October 2022. The interview resulted in a video of about ten minutes long that is embedded below (if I have done it right). In the interview, Ms.Plummer states the rationale, if you want to call it that, for her position.

For those who would rather read than watch a video, I have transcribed below some choice quotes.

Rees-Mogg begins the interview by asking Ms. Plummer how she can reconcile her demand for an immediate halt to carbon emissions with the desire of people to “lead comfortable lives.” The response:

I wonder why you think it’s incompatible to help people with the cost of living crisis and switch to renewables, which are nine times cheaper than fossil fuels. Can you name me one of your viewers who is suffering the consequences of the energy crisis who doesn’t want their energy bills to be nine times cheaper right now?

Rees-Mogg interjects to ask how Plummer proposes to deal with the intermittency issue, where the sun and wind don’t work when it is dark or the wind is calm. Plummer’s answer:

Well, why are we inventing renewable technology? The largest solar farm in the UK was built in six weeks. It takes up to 28 years for any oil to come out of the ground in the North Sea. . . . We already have the capacity to provide so much of our energy from renewables, without any technology needed for storage solutions.

As the word avalanche continues, Rees-Mogg tries a somewhat desperate “But where is this coming from?”, noting that in the depth of the winter when renewables failed, Britain was relying on a combination imports from the EU, coal, and natural gas. Plummer:

Frankly I’m not a scientist. What I’m doing is listening to what all the experts are saying. We’re living in this insane world where the experts aren’t being listened to. The United Nations has called for no new oil and gas. The International Energy Agency has said that we can have no new oil and gas. The IPCC Report, the largest global report on the climate crisis, have all said we can have no new oil and gas. How many more experts need to say it?

Rees-Mogg tries asking what Plummer proposes to do for transport, and how to get goods into supermarkets. Some of the answer:

I’m looking at the world, and we’re living with the effects of the climate crisis today. Right now, people are dying. Children are starving. Families are fleeing their homes. And it’s preventable. We have the solutions.

And on and on. Rees-Mogg asks how to keep up the food supply without fossil fuels and fertilizers derived from them. Plummer:

You know what’s essential for the food supply? Tackling the climate crisis. This year we lost a third of our wheat crop, half of our potato crops. And it’s only going to get worse. We’re heading towards a future where people are going to be fighting over the last loaves of bread. . . . How do you expect to feed the world when our crops are destroyed by droughts, floods, wildfires, storms. .

Those quotes cover about a third of the interview, but the rest is of the same intellectual level, if you want to call it that. Watch the whole thing if you have the patience. Plummer’s spiel is some combination of appeals to authority and fear, with approximately zero understanding of how the world actually works.

I found the video at Paul Homewood’s site Not A Lot Of People Know That. Homewood titles his post “Phoebe Plummer, Spoilt Brat.” Homewood also links to a Daily Mail article of October 10, 2022 for some specifics on Plummer’s educational background:

[Plummer] went to [45,000 pound/yr] St. Mary’s School in Ascot which also taught Prince Edward’s daughter Lady Louise, plus the Duke of Kent’s grandchildren Marina and Amelia and Monaco’s Princess Caroline. Plummer went on to 30,000 pound/yr Mander Portman Woodward College in Kensington, London, named “spoilt brat central” by Vice Magazine in 2006.

Sadly, I think that Ms. Plummer’s statements are fairly representative of the arguments put forward in favor of fossil fuel suppression, at least on the few occasions when the advocates of such policy are pressed to support their views. If anyone is aware of a more coherent explanation of how fossil fuel suppression by Western countries makes any sense, I’d be interested to see it.

Alternative Energy: Myth, Fact and Hyperbole

Astronomical battery cost looms over “renewables” - By |December 15th, 2022| Energy| 230 Comments - The amount of storage needed to make renewables reliable is so huge that even if the cost dropped fantastically we still could not afford it.

We now know that the battery storage for the entire American grid is impossibly expensive, thanks to a breakthru study by engineer Ken Gregory. Looking at several recent years he analyzed, on an hour by hour basis, the electricity produced with fossil fuels. He then calculated what it would have taken in the way of storage to produce the same energy using wind and solar power. He did this by scaling up those year’s actual wind and solar production.

Based on his work, which only covered 48 states, our round working estimate of the required storage for the whole country is an amazing 250 million MWh. America today has less than 20 thousand MWh of grid scale battery storage, which is next to nothing.

Grid scale batteries today cost around $700,000 a MWh. For 250 million MWh we get an astronomical total cost of $175 trillion dollars just to replace today’s fossil fuel generated electricity needs with wind and solar. Even the fantastically low cost estimates that some people are proposing puts the cost around the total annual GDP of America. Even worse, if we get the electric cars and trucks the Biden Administration is calling for these astronomical numbers could easily double.

The environmental cost of wind and solar in NetZero - By  December 14th, 2022|General Information|174 Comments - Birds, bats, whales, even people pay the price. Cats, the BBC tells us, kill more birds than wind turbines. And they are right.

But unlike cats, notes British journalist Matt Ridley, all over the world, the largest and rarest eagles and vultures are dying in significant numbers as a result of wind turbines. — wedge-tailed eagles in Australia, Verreaux’s eagles in South Africa, sea eagles in Norway, and bald and golden eagles in the United States.

Ridley notes that a32-turbine wind power station in Spain kills a vulture every three days – decimating rare populations of griffon, cincerous, bearded, and Egyptian vultures. In California’s Altamont Pass wind turbines kill over 1,000 birds of prey each year. A Norwegian wind power station has reduced the number of sea eagle territories on the island of Smola from thirteen to just five – making local extinction a real possibility................

Tasmanian mega wind farm approved that can’t operate half the year - By - When does it make sense to build 122 giant industrial turbines that can’t operate for nearly half a year?  he EPA has approved Robbins Island Mega Wind Factory in a remote island off Tasmania that will have to stop working for five months of the year so it doesn’t hurt the Orange-bellied Parrot. It will however be able to kill eagles and other birds for the other seven months of the year.  Green electrons are revered, Orange-bellied parrots are sacred but our way of life is up for grabs. It’s a cult.

This is infrastructure that only works about 30% of the time anyhow, and now will be reduced to something like 17%. The theoretical capacity will be 340MW in the first stage, supposedly growing to 900MW if they can somehow build the extra 170km transmission lines and perhaps get the taxpayer to help build another undersea cable across the Bass Strait. (If the company was going to pay, why was the Tasmanian government spending $20m on the “business case”?)

It will be one of the largest wind factories in the Southern Hemisphere (the biggest being West of Melbourne), but as Tom Quirk showed years ago, when the wind stops in Tasmania it often also stops in Victoria. So the two giant wind factories with supposedly 2GW of random unreliable power between them will both probably be useless together.  In 2019, this mega industrial proposal was the point where the Greens suddenly realized that skeptics were right and wind-farms were ugly bird killers..........

CFACT’s Morano on OAN TV “praises” Biden’s fossil fuel ban in fed buildings - By |December 13th, 2022|CFACT TV, Regulation|82 CommentsCFACT’s Marc Morano, editor of Climate Depot, appeared on OAN TV’s “In Focus” with Addison Smith to address the Biden Administration’s plans to eliminate the use of fossil fuels in federal buildings.

“This is actually one thing we should wholeheartedly support President Biden. He’s talking about eliminating fossil fuels in federal buildings and new construction renovation and existing buildings,” Morano said. “This is the first conservative thing Joe Biden has done. He is going to make federal workers live in a Net Zero world that means when August heat waves hit DC and air conditioning isn’t going to be sufficiently powered by solar, and wind and renewable, bureaucrats are going to be too uncomfortable to think of even more regulations.”

“A less efficient bureaucracy is what we actually want in Washington and I can’t think of anything more distasteful or unpleasant to impose on federal bureaucrats than working in miserably powered buildings by energy that can’t possibly power them well.”

Not Green at All

Green energy costs are large, obvious and measurable. The climate benefits are illusory.

By ——--November 14, 2022

“Green” policies are destroying the natural environment and changing local weather. This is part of a futile UN scheme claiming to improve the climate of the world.  All green energy degrades its environment. Take wind power.  Promoting more inland desertification is not green

Wind turbines steal energy from the atmosphere and must affect local weather. Turbines are always placed on the highest ground and along ridges to catch more wind. Natural hills already affect local weather by causing more rain along the ridge, and a rain shadow further downwind. Wind turbines enhance this rain shadow effect by robbing the wind of its ability to take moisture and rain into the drier interior.

Promoting more inland desertification is not green.

Climatists also plan to defend Australia with offshore wind turbines – using bird slicers to protect Australia from hang gliders, cruising pelicans, sea gulls, eagles and the occasional albatross.

Solar “farms” prefer large areas of flattish ground. They steal solar energy from all plant life in their solar shadow. This deprives wild and domestic herbivores of sustenance. Neither kangaroos, cattle, emus, parrots nor sheep thrive in solar energy deserts.........To Read More....

Escaping from the COP-27 insane asylum

Let’s hope climate talks finally come to grips with energy, scientific and economic reality

Paul Driessen

“Show us the money!” climate activists demand, and rich countries are expected to pony up.

Do I hear $100 billion? Would you give $1 trillion? Now, then, would you give $2 trillion?

The climate reparations bidding war is on. What began at $100-billion-a-year at COP-21 in Paris rapidly ballooned to $1.3-trillion on the eve of COP-27 in Sharm-el-Sheikh-Down, Egypt and now stands at $2.4-trillion annually! And we’re nowhere near “going once, going twice, sold.”

Of course, it was always about the money – endless sums of cash supposedly to help developing countries (like China!) adapt to dangerous manmade climate change, cover entire regions with wind and solar, and secure “fair, just and equitable” reparations for soaring temperatures, rising seas, destructive storms, floods, droughts and famines allegedly caused by countries that have used fossil fuels since 1850.

Yes, China. The Middle Kingdom has long postured itself as a developing country, when it comes to when it might start building fewer coal-fired power plants and slowly shift to “renewable” energy.

Now China says it will pay non-cash climate reparations, if the United States pays in dollars. Of course, any US, UK, German, et cetera “fair share” would be exorbitant – and paid while they “transition” rapidly away from fossil fuels, regardless of the economic, social and ecological costs.

As Oliver Hardy would say, “Another fine mess you’ve gotten me into,” Joe, John and the rest of Team Biden’s climate-obsessed, fossil-fuel-eradicating, eco-justice warriors.

They and their activist, media and academia allies created the climate scare – the assertion that fossil fuel emissions alone are driving today’s climate and weather. Never mind that, since the last Pleistocene ice age, average global temperatures climbed significantly (Baruch Hashem); sea levels rose some 400 feet; and floods, droughts, hurricanes and other disasters ravaged planet and humanity countless times. Anything happening today, however, is due to countries that got rich using fossil fuels. Or so they insist.

Therefore, naturally, COP-27 organizers, activists and attendees now say the “climate crisis” requires enormous payments from rich countries to poor countries – or more accurately, from poor people in rich countries to rich kleptocrats in poor countries. That raises another inconvenient truth.

Not long ago, Obama “science advisor” John Holdren intoned: “Only one rational path is open to us – simultaneous de-development of the [United States and other over-developed countries] and semi-development of the under-developed countries, in order to approach a decent and ecologically sustainable standard of living for all in between.” This de-development ideology is shared by many others.

Well, de-development and de-industrialization are already underway in Britain, Germany and elsewhere, because wind, solar and battery (WSB) energy cannot possibly replace abundant, reliable, affordable, non-weather-dependent fossil fuel and nuclear energy. Jobs, companies and entire industries are already disappearing across Europe, as it destroys fossil fuel power plants but has nothing viable to replace them.

So how are all these de-developing Formerly Rich Countries (FRCs) going to deliver billions or trillions annually, to pay climate reparations and help poor countries develop? They cannot possibly do so.

Even worse, eco-imperialist developed countries continue demanding that poor countries develop only to the minimal extent that WSB technologies would permit. Rich countries, the World Bank and global financial institutions refuse to finance anything but pseudo-renewable energy.

These unconscionable policies perpetuate joblessness, poverty, disease and death – and advance the other basic goal of “climate stabilization” programs: controlling our lives and living standards. But poor nations have inalienable, God-given rights to develop, using fossil fuel, nuclear and hydroelectric power – and petroleum as feed stocks for fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, plastics and hundreds of other miraculous life-enhancing, life-saving products (developed by countries that are now expected to pay reparations).

Developed nations must help developing nations reach those goals. Instead, they too often block pathways to better lives. Still more outrageous, the USA and Europe have the nerve to ask African, Asian and Latin American nations to produce more oil and gas, but only for export to the USA and Europe!

Meanwhile, Britain is setting up “warm rooms,” where people can go for a few hours a day, instead of freezing hungry and jobless in dark apartments. It’s as though Merry Old England has suddenly been transported back to the Middle Ages, by politicians who put climate virtue signaling above their constituents’ basic needs.

Meanwhile, Germany is dismantling an industrial wind power installation – so that it can extract the lignite coal underneath, to run generating plants, to keep factories operating and homes warm!

Even crazier, these are just a few examples of the insanity gripping the world’s political classes, especially during Conferences of Parties (COPs) on climate change. Happily, escaping this insane asylum requires little more than recognizing a few simple realities.

* The vast majority of nations signed the Paris climate treaty for the money – most of which they are now beginning to realize they will never receive. Moreover, coal, oil and natural gas still provide 82% of the world’s energy; nuclear, hydroelectric and biomass (wood and dung) provide most remaining energy needs, and less than 2% comes from wind and solar.

* Developing countries will be using fossil fuels for decades to come – and emitting more plant-fertilizing carbon dioxide in the process – much of it to extract the raw materials and manufacture the “green tech” they will export to the US, UK, EU and other soon-to-be-FRCs. So even if developed countries totally eliminated their fossil fuel use, atmospheric greenhouse gas levels will continue to climb.

* But that won’t matter, because there is no evidence that we face a climate crisis, much less a manmade climate crisis, much less changes unprecedented in Earth or human history. Humans are likely affecting temperature, humidity, climate and weather to some degree, especially around large urban “heat islands.” But that is a far cry from cataclysms allegedly resulting from fossil fuels replacing the powerful natural forces that have controlled climate and weather throughout history.

* The 1.5 degrees C that we are supposed to avoid to avert catastrophe is arbitrary, meaningless – and tied not just to the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, but to the end of the Little Ice Age. Another degree or two of warming would be mostly beneficial, whereas another little or big ice age would devastate agriculture, habitats, wildlife and humanity.

* The entire climate crisis agenda is based on computer models that (a) cannot possibly reflect all the forces that govern climate, and (b) consistently predict planetary warming that is two to three times greater than actually recorded by satellites, weather balloons and surface temperature monitors.

* Basing economy-destroying, life-altering policies on useless models is sheer insanity – especially if the replacement energy comes from WSB systems that would require mining, processing, manufacturing and installations on scales that would ravage our planet.

The only reason these realities are so little known is that climate activists, politicians, academics, and news and social media studiously demonize, harass, censor, silence, deplatform and demonetize scientists, economists and energy experts who challenge climate crisis narratives.

Thankfully, the Truth is slowly winning out. Perhaps COP-27 will bring a healthy dose of climate and energy sanity. If it doesn’t, we could end up with John Holdren’s formula for rolling back development and living standards. Just don’t expect the ruling elites and their Hollywood and Big Tech allies to lead by example.

Stop These Things!!!

To be green is to be irrational, misanthropic and morally defective.

By Rich Kozlovich

 https://stopthesethings.files.wordpress.com/2021/03/yallourn-cartoon.png

As my regular readers know for years I've written and posted about the folly of alternative energy schemes where untold billions have been wasted to supply energy we don't need, can't afford, and won't supply our needs, while abandoning proven successful energy producing systems all in order to stop something that's one of the greatest frauds ever perpetrated on humanity.  Anthropogenic climate change.

I review my stats regularly, and in particular what are the referring sites, and that's how I came across this Australian web site, STOP THESE THINGS, "The truth about the great wind power fraud. we're not here to debate the wind industry, we're here to DESTROY IT."

The alternative energy industry is heading for a Humpty Dumpty fall because it's a failure.  This Russo/Ukrainian War has caused a loss in access to Russian energy sources for Europe, and exposed just what a failure alternative energy really is.

Worse yet, the Biden administration has taken America from an energy independent nation, and an energy supplier, to a nation that's heading for blackouts, and an energy beggar.  All done in less than 18 months.  Actually,  that started on January 25, 2021, and went downhill from there.  And that's in a nation that has more oil than all the middle east combined.

Alternative energy is a failure in production, it's a failure in delivery, it's a failure in reliability, it's a failure environmentally, it's a failure in affordability.  It's a failure, except for what the author calls the "wind energy spin kings" who pig out on government hog trough subsidies.  If not for that, alternative energy cost benefit analysis would be so out of whack no rational businessman would have wasted ten cents on these projects, and Tesla would exist.

Here are the latest pieces they've posted, and I think you will find them worth your while.  I've now subscribed for their free updates

Judge Hits Wind Farm & Big Tesla Battery Owners With $4m Fines For Delivery Failures - July 17, 2022 by Leave a Comment - Now and again the law catches up with the shysters that run wind farms and so-called big batteries. Failing to deliver on a promise ordinarily results in an order for damages to be paid to the unwitting victim. In addition, in a regulated electricity market, the regulator will sometimes join in and seek its pound […]

No Contest: Coal-Fired Power Outright Winner In Reliable & Affordable Energy Wars - July 16, 2022 by 1 Comment - China, India and Indonesia are building hundreds of coal-fired power plants because they deliver electricity all day, every day at prices that everyone can afford. The reason for backing coal-fired power is that simple. And yet thanks to a mixture of mercenary self-interest on the part of renewable energy rent seekers and the wilful ignorance […]

Safety First: Run For The Hills When 300 Tonne Wind Turbines Hit The Deck - July 15, 2022 by 2 Comments - Massive subsidies fuel the wind industry, while self-generated myth and glowing propaganda just grease the wheels. For wind industry spin-kings, one pesky problem that won’t go away is the routine and catastrophic collapses of these 300 tonne whirling wonders. Over the last few years, there have been hundreds of ‘structural failures’ – where either 10-15 tonne blades are […]
Wind & Solar Debacle Means It’s Time To Bring Small Nuclear Reactors Onshore - July 14, 2022 by 2 Comments - SMRs are no pipe dream: 200 small nuclear reactors are presently powering 160 ships and submarines all around the world, and have been for decades. What’s on foot is a move to bring those reactors onshore and use them to shore up power grids being wrecked by the chaotic intermittency of wind and solar. STT promotes […]
Wind & Solar Industries Outraged: EU Declares Nuclear & Gas Are “Green” Too - July 13, 2022 by 3 Comments - Rent-seekers have been telling us that wind and solar will soon not only displace, but entirely replace, our “ageing” coal-fired power plants, knock gas-fired plants out of the ballpark and crush nuclear power plants before they even enter the contest. Such was the hype, anyway. Then came 2021. Massive month-long wind droughts left wind power […]

New Dark Age: Wind & Solar Transition to State-wide Blackouts & Unaffordable Power Prices - July 12, 2022 by 3 Comments - Renewable energy rent-seekers and politicos have been gripped by a sense of palpable panic: the mob won’t tolerate blackouts for very long, and repeated power rationing will have the same incendiary effect on public sentiment. The destruction of reliable and affordable power supplies caused by chaotically intermittent and heavily subsidised wind and solar was perfectly […]

Green paganism

By |August 15th, 2020 | Environment|9 Comments @ CFACT

Many zealous greens are strongly imbued with pagan values. Paganism is generally defined as polytheism mixed in with nature worship. Primitive pagans frequently cowered before the forces of nature, fatalistically resigned to being at nature’s mercy, believing that progress was not only impossible, but a criminal offense against nature. So complete was their submission to nature, and so foreign to them was the idea that individual lives have value, that pagan societies often practiced human sacrifice to appease the gods of nature, particularly the sun god (e.g., the Aztecs).

Let’s forget about polytheism for now. What’s more important are the attitudes toward nature and human life. In the modern scientific era, many people – whether prompted by theistic or humanistic beliefs and values – reject the pagan beliefs that humankind should submit to nature and that individual human lives deserves protection. However, many other people, particularly hardcore greens, reject those principles and replicate primitive paganism by exalting nature and devaluing human life.

Pagan greens insist that we cling to dependence on natural, “clean, renewable” sources of energy, namely, from the wind and sun. Try as they might, though, they can’t coax consistency and reliability out of those fickle natural sources. Nor are wind and solar energy really clean or renewable, since they depend on massive consumption of many “nonrenewable” resources, some of them highly polluting. (They also kill more wildlife than fossil fuels do, but that’s another story.)

Of particular concern are the sometimes rabidly anti-human beliefs of green pagans. They have variously labelled the human race “a virus,” “a disease” “vermin,” “a cancer.” The hatred for humanity is palpable. Here is more: “The extinction of the human species may not only be inevitable but a good thing”; “Human beings, as a species, have no more value than slugs”; “Man is no more important than any other species.”

Like some primitive pagan societies, groveling in fear before the forces of nature, pagan greens believe that some individuals need to be sacrificed for life to go on. Thus, the founder of the Environmental Defense Fund, favored banning DDT because the ban would, “get rid of some of them” (in Ebenezer Scrooge’s words, “decrease the surplus population”) via insect-borne malaria and insect-caused crop destruction. Indeed, the human death toll from banning rather than moderating the use of DDT has exceeded the death toll from communism, making environmentalism the most lethal leftist ideology in history. That shouldn’t be surprising, for communists at least paid lip service (however dishonestly) to “the good of the people,” while pagan greens regard human life as no better than a pestilential germ.

The anti-human animus of pagan greens even gave rise to a pejorative term: “speciesism” – i.e., the belief that humans are superior to other species. Well, in pagan green cosmology, humans may not be superior to other species, but in the real world, we are. Forget about us being at the top of the food chain. Think moon-landings, movie magic, Mozart and McCartney. Humans are unique. Every other species pursues its self-interest without a thought for the long-term survival of other species. Only humans have enough foresight to take deliberate steps to try to conserve other species. Only humans could feel regret and grieve if a beloved species goes extinct. Only humans are clever enough to discover or invent 57 different genders. Sorry, animal kingdom, but it’s no contest – humans are superior.

The contrary belief to speciesism is that all species are equal. That belief can be harmful to humans. About 30 years ago, the Environmental Protection Agency blocked the cleanup of sewage in the Tijuana River Basin on the grounds that the cleanup would endanger the survival of the life forms that dwelled in that toxic (to humans) brew. Yes, federal bureaucrats placed the survival of various bacteria above the health of human beings. That’s pagan!

Another manifestation of anti-human green paganism is their preference for anti-growth agendas. The deadliest environment for a human being is poverty, yet greens work to thwart economic development in developing countries by trying to deny them access to the very fossil fuels that enabled the people in developed countries to climb out of poverty and live thriving, healthy lives. You can read details of these tragic and genocidal policies in Paul Driessen’s superb book, Eco-Imperialism. We need an environmentalism as if people mattered. (As a counterpoise to Friends of the Earth, we could use an environmental advocacy group called “Friends of people who live on Earth.)

Green icon Paul Ehrlich once asserted, “Economic growth is not the solution it’s the problem.” He is 180 degrees off-target. Growth is the solution. If it were true that the more economic development there is, the more polluted our environment would be, then our goose would be cooked. We could conceivably get so prosperous that we’d pollute ourselves to death. But the world doesn’t work that way.

Instead, there is a well-known pattern known as the Kuznets curve (named after the late economist Simon Kuznets who explained the pattern). What happens is that when societies begin to develop and climb out of poverty, pollution rises. But once development gets to the point where basic needs are met and discretionary income rises, people are willing and able to spend money on both pollution remediation and pollution prevention. Consequently, affluent (developed) societies are less polluted than developing societies.

Contemporary green paganism is an atavistic, anti-life fetish. Cloaked in mystical ignorance and wildly misanthropic, contemporary green pagans are as much of a threat to their fellow humans as their primitive forbears ever were.

Renewables may feel good, too bad they don’t work

By | September 19th, 2019 | Energy | 5 Comments

The “green magic transition” may be the greatest con job in history.
Despite the hype over the ever-increasing connected capacity at wind and solar farms worldwide, none, yes, let me repeat that, none have replaced any of the hydro, natural gas, coal, or nuclear generating plants that are providing continuous and uninterruptable electricity to people and businesses around the world.
Solar may work occasionally at homes and businesses as a source for supplemental intermittent electricity to lower daily demand from the grid, but they’re still connected to a reliable source for continuously and uninterruptable power. We all know, if the sun is not shinning, their only source of electricity are the power generating plants feeding the grid even with the burgeoning mass storage technology popping up in the most auspicious places.
It’s not that we’re not trying to tap into the emission free electricity provided by Mother Nature, but wind and sunshine are too intermittent. They are not the panacea. They come with their own ills.
With the success the green movement has had on stymying nuclear, it’s now attracting big oil companies to invest huge sums into the renewables craze.
There are three main reasons for that kind of investment from “big oil” into renewables.
  • First, it’s a great public relation move.
  • Second, it’s a fantastic business investment, as every wind and solar site generating intermittent electricity needs a natural gas backup generating plant to provide continuous and uninterruptable electricity.
  • Third, if they fail, the government incentives are “no take back” guarantees and the loss is a tax write off. So, they basically get to dabble for free..........To Read More....

Growing evidence of wind farms’ horrific toll on wildlife: This time from India

Wind Turbines: The New “Apex Predator”

2019-06-19 By Bonner Cohen, Ph. D.|General Information|3 Comments  @ CFACT
Eagles, hawks, bats – these are among the most prominently cited avian wildlife regularly slaughtered by industrial-sized wind-power facilities that – thanks to taxpayer subsidies and state renewable-energy mandates — continue to spread like wildfire across rural America.

The affliction is by no means restricted to the United States, however. A new study sheds light on the carnage giant wind turbines are inflicting on wildlife in India. Researchers at the Indian Institute for Science at Bengaluru studied bird and lizard populations at three wind turbine sites in Western Ghats. They found that the mass killing of avian predators by wind turbines is having a “ripple effect” across the food chain, with lizards and small mammals adjusting to substantially reduced numbers of predators in the sky

Wind Turbines: The New “Apex Predator”

As reported by the Daily Mail last November (and otherwise largely ignored by the media), researchers in India found almost four times fewer buzzards, hawks, and kites in areas with wind farms – a loss of about 75%. Startled by the data, scientists are now referring to wind turbines as “the new apex predator.”

In areas without wind turbines about 19 birds were spotted every three hours, while in areas with the spinning blades the number dropped to five. Fewer winged predators have been good news for the fan-throated lizard, a species found only in certain areas of the Indian Sub-Continent. The lizard is usually easy pickings for hawks, buzzards, and other birds, but with their numbers reduced by the wind turbines, the lizard’s numbers are multiplying.

“We have known from many studies that wind turbines kill birds and bats. They kill them and disrupt their movement. But we took that one step further and discovered that it affects lizards, too,” study coauthor Maria Thaker told the Daily Mail.

“Every time a top predator is removed or added, unexpected effect trickle through the ecosystem,” she added. “What is actually happening here is that wind turbines are akin to adding a top predator to the ecosystem.”

The study, which was published in Nature Ecology and Evolution, compared populations of raptors and lizards on a plateau that has had a wind farm on it for about 20 years to an adjacent valley that has no turbines.

“Humankind’s Most Pervasive Influence on the Natural World”

A recent study by an international team of scientists found the decline of apex predators is” arguably humankind’s most pervasive influence on the natural world.”

None of this is of any real concern to green groups, such as the World Wildlife Fund, who parrot the party line that the real threat to wildlife is “climate change,” not industrial-scale wind facilities and giant solar arrays they have been supporting for decades.

While India has made great strides in electrification in recent years, much still needs to be done. According to official data, “only 1,417 of India’s 18,452 villages or 7.3% of the total, have 100% household connectivity, and about 31% are still in the dark,” Forbes reported last year.

India’s future should not be dependent on interment, unreliable, unaffordable, and, as we now know, environmentally destructive wind power.
